We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Rose Chapel Funeral Service (Sayre)
On July 12, 2022 at 8:14 am, Sharon Gaye (Nation) Fincher left her earthly body and was reunited with her Savior in Heaven. She was 76-years-old.
Sharon Gaye was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on June 10, 1946 to Bob and Vera Nation. She completed her family by becoming baby sister to her brother Franklin Edsel Nation. Sharon loved to share stories of her childhood growing up in the rural Bulo and Sweetwater, Oklahoma countryside, and always reflected back on her time at home with her momma and daddy with joy, pride and love. She spoke of her daddy as if he were the pillar to both house and family, admiring her father’s steadfast work ethic and unconditional love. Sharon spent her youth playing outside with friends and cousins or inside enjoying the paper dolls her mother, Vera would get for her. She adored spending time in her momma’s kitchen talking, laughing, learning and sharpening her culinary skills. Sharon would later be known for her amazing and unmatched greasy burgers, and it wasn’t a real Thanksgiving without her dressing beside the turkey!
Sharon met the love of her life, Robert Leon Fincher early in life; explaining that when you know, you know, and she knew! They were united in Holy matrimony on December 5, 1961. This union lasted 60 years, 7 months, and 7 days. Their love and devotion to one another has been integral to the family they have built together. The couple had their children, LaRonda Gaye and Rodney Leon as soon as possible, and only a mere 13 months apart.
Sharon always played a supporting role in her household, holding various jobs such as secretary, ophthalmology assistant, and entrepreneur always eager and willing to join her husband Leon in any business venture. After her children were married, she even traveled the country coast to coast alongside her husband conducting consumer interviews and surveys while making many wonderful memories.
Sharon was devoted to her family and loved each member fiercely. Within her family was where she shined the brightest. She transformed any house into a real home. “I got that from my momma,” would be her explanation if ever asked from where her decorating or sewing skills came. Her shine grew when she became a grandmother. She had 9 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids to brag and dote over (she did both often). With a life devoted to being a daughter, sister, cousin, wife, sister-in-law, mother, aunt, grandma, and finally “granny”, there isn’t any wonder why she was the hub of all family gatherings and matriarch over her beloved family.
Sharon leaves behind an extensive, loved family. Remaining here to carry on her memory and celebrate her life are her life partner and husband, Robert Leon Fincher, daughter Laronda Gaye Pirkle and husband Robert, son Rodney Leon Fincher and wife Gena. Her brother Franklin Edsel Nation and wife Orvalline. Her beloved grandchildren: Rocky Leon Fincher and wife Courtney, Cody Wilson Fincher and wife Stephany, Tyler Rhae Crook and husband Jordan, Dallas Montgomery Pirkle and wife Shelley, Travis Lane Pirkle and wife Krissy, Lance Austin Pirkle and wife Haley, Rodney Cade Fincher, Caitlynn Elizabeth Sterling and husband Josh, and Jared Michael Stemm. Her cherished Greats: Rylan Leon Fincher, Penelope Vera-Joyce Crook, Scarlett Genevieve-Noel Crook, Layton Lane Pirkle, Landry Raelynn Pirkle, Alexander Grey Pirkle, Abel Reid Stemm, and Colton Ray Hendricks-Johnson. Sharon has many brother and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces/nephews, and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her. Waiting to receive Sharon in Heaven are her parents Bob and Vera Nation, her In-laws Glenn Wilson and Noma Fincher, daughter-in-law Rita Jean (Roles) Fincher, nephew Bobby Nation and sister-in-law Lynda Ezzell.
Sharon Gaye Fincher’s life was filled with love, family, friends, happiness, GREAT food and laughter. Her presence will be sorely missed, but as she has returned Home to her Lord and Savior, there is no doubt, she will be watching over her beloved family.
