Sevilla "Bella" Arriesgado Gill was born on Carnaza Island, Daanbantayan Province, Cebu Philippines, August 14, 1948, to the late Caridad and Sebastian Arriesgado and passed away September 10, 2021, at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, FL, at the age of 73 years. After traveling to Manila on a ferry boat at age 12, she worked at a restaurant and a vendor selling barbecue pork and newspapers. She moved to Olongapo City, outside the Subic Bay Naval Base Philippines at age 18. At age 20, Bella met a young seaman from Oklahoma, David Gill and they married and have been together ever since. Bella traveled with her husband and children from duty station to duty station until his retirement in 1990. She was a kind and gentle woman who never had a harsh word for anyone and soon got her nickname as "Mom". Throughout their travels in the Navy, those who had known Bella would always ask her husband, “where's Mom” or “how's Mom”. After her husband's Naval retirement, they lived in Erick until moving to Pensacola, Fl. She was active in the Phil-Am Social Club as well as the Little Flower Catholic Church which kept her busy as her husband was an over-the-road truck driver. She was especially proud of her many years with the church singing group that visited local retirement centers during the holidays. After suffering a stroke in 2004 which limited her activity, Bella joined her husband as a rider over-the-road and they had wonderful times together. They had always wanted to travel the country together and this was the best way for them to do that. It was literally the best and most wonderful part of their life together.
Bella is survived by her husband of 52 years, David L. Gill of the home; 1 daughter: Marietta Mask and husband Michael of Granite Falls, NC; 3 sons: Rudy Simbra and wife Doria of the Philippines; David A. Gill Jr. and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, FL, William Lee Gill and wife Stephanie of Claremont, NC; 2 sister-in-laws: Audrey Stephens and husband Daryle of Oklahoma City, OK, Angelita Gill of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 brother-in-law: Don Birdwell of Elk City, OK; 16 grandchildren, Rey, Mark, Ronald, Michael, and Lehi Simbra, Andrew Edwards, Alexis Wright, Ryan Mask, Don Hardin, Justin, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jacob, and Johnathan Gill, Addison and Elijah Gill; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
