We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Rose Chapel Funeral Service (Sayre)
Roberta Christine Oldfield was born in Forgan, OK February 17, 1936 and passed peacefully at her home west of Sayre on July 1, 2022. Her parents were Lowell Washburn Robins and Virdie Adeline Grady Robins Mayo. The family home included Velda Loubel and Lyndal Dean.
Roberta’s life was defined by her unshakable belief Jesus is who He says He is. Roberta freely shared that Jesus was her Lord and Savior and His grace and mercy is available to any person who calls upon His name. Through out her life she was an active disciple of Christ at churches including Crestview Baptist Church (Big Spring, TX), Round Lick Baptist Church (Watertown, TN), and First Baptist Church (Sayre, OK).
Because of her faithfulness, God blessed her life tremendously. In 1955 she married the love of her life Lindy Oldfield in Big Spring, TX. They soon welcomed sons Barney Lynn (1955) and Ronnie Rex (1958). A daughter Patricia Gayle joined the family through adoption in 1965.
Roberta and Lindy were well known and loved members of the Big Spring community. Roberta was a respected accountant and businesswoman. Seeking a different lifestyle, in 1968 they relocated the family to a farm outside Watertown, TN. Roberta continued to flourish in her faithful leadership of young people as she mothered her children (and so many of their friends) through their high school and college years.
Desiring to be located closer to their aging parents, Roberta and Lindy relocated to Sayre, OK in 1978. They chose to be a part of this wonderful community for more than 40 years. They loved and were loved by the people in this area and were forever grateful.
Roberta had so many successes (and struggles) during her life. She knew her blessed life was firmly rooted beside a stream of living water which gave her the strength to overcome.
Despite not having an accounting degree Roberta had always been a highly skilled accountant. In 1981 she began the process to become a Certified Public Accountant in Oklahoma. Because of her work experience she was granted that opportunity by Oklahoma’s State Board of Public Accountancy.
She successfully passed the CPA exam and received her CPA license in 1983 becoming one of the few people (perhaps the only woman) in Oklahoma to ever accomplish this. And as the folks in Sayre do attest, she bloomed during the last decades of her career of service to others.
Roberta is preceded in death by her beloved Lindy, her parents Lowell & Virdie, her sister Loubel Robins Dickens & husband Ulyes Elmer, brother Lyndal Robins & wife Faye Hodges Robins.
She is survived by sons Barney Lynn and wife Carmen of Sayre, OK and Ronnie Rex of Boles, TX, and daughter Patricia Gayle Oldfield of Big Spring, TX. Granddaughters Lauren Alexandra Oldfield (and wife Maggie Rich), Sarah Elizabeth Oldfield and Wilneydi Sofia Oldfield, and Grandsons Jesse Grossman and Lindy Weston. Lauren and Sarah’s mother, Marissa Lee Herrera Oldfield Green. Great Grandchildren Sophia Grace Payne and Austin Weston, and numerous nieces, nephews of many generations. Her niece Stephanie Dickens Nelson demonstrated her love for Roberta by tirelessly serving her for several years as she declined. Roberta had many friends for whom she was thankful, especially her bestie Lori Thompson and her late in life “daughters” Latisha and Loretta Cox.
