Obituary

Glenna Jean "Jeanie" Wagar was born on February 12, 1944 in Jackson, MS to Glen and Mary (Macy) Hancock. She passed away on April 27, 2022 in Elk City, OK at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 15 days. 

Jeanie lived in Jackson, MS where her dad was stationed in the Army. She and her mother moved to Danville, IL when her dad was called to overseas duty. The family moved to California in 1955 and they eventually settled in Simi Valley, California. Jeanie married Russell Leroy Wagar, Jr. on August 20, 1965. Jeanie worked at L3 Communications where she made circuit boards for submarines and airplanes. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with stained glass, tole painting, and crocheting. Jeanie loved to read anything she could get her hands on and was an avid reader but the time she treasured most, was that spent with her family. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Jim Hancock and Larry Cooper, and a sister in law, Barbara Hancock.

She is survived by her two daughters, Victoria Wagar of Simi Valley, CA, Mary Hill and husband, Dana of Elk City, OK, two granddaughters, Tara Smith and husband, Corey of Elk City, OK, and Nicole Hill of Elk City, OK, three great grandchildren, Audrey Dunlap, Trent Dunlap, and Owen Smith all of Elk City, OK, two brothers, Tom Hancock and wife, Jill of Henderson, NV, Mike Hancock of Simi Valley, California, and a sister in law, Chris Hancock, Show Low, AZ, along with a host of other relatives and friends. 

The family requests memorials be made to Comforting Hands Hospice or St. Judes Children's Hospital in Jeanie's memory.

A celebration of Jeanie's life will be held Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Ackley Park in Elk City.
